Our Campus

Martin Luther College’s 50-acre campus is located at the highest point of New Ulm, Minnesota, overlooking the wooded valleys of the Minnesota and Cottonwood Rivers. The campus includes an academic center with greenhouse; a library/media center; computer centers; a student union with cafeteria, gym, fitness center, game room, and lounge; a chapel/auditorium; two music buildings; four residence halls; outdoor football, tennis, softball, baseball, and soccer facilities; and free access to Vogel Recreation Center.

Our Residence Halls

You and a roommate will live in one of our four residential halls:

  • Centennial (freshmen & sophomore women)
  • Concord (freshmen & sophomore men)
  • Augustana (junior and senior women)
  • Summit (junior and senior men)

The dorm rooms are furnished and include phone/computer and cable TV hookups. Study areas, 24-hour computer labs, TV lounges, kitchen, and coin laundry facilities are available. Students enjoy “open dorms” for selected hours on weekends. The buildings are secure; students obtain access with proximity entry cards, and night security is provided on campus. There is no campus curfew.

Campus Dining

All dorm students participate in the cafeteria meal plan. You may enter the cafeteria as often as you wish, from 7 a.m. to midnight, to enjoy a variety of menu items.

Worship Life

Worship is a highlight of student life at MLC. The campus family has opportunity to worship in chapel every morning and evening during the school week. Sunday morning worship services are held at two New Ulm WELS churches, both within walking distance of the campus.

Student Health

Our registered nurse holds regular hours each school day and is ready to tend to any student in need. In addition, New Ulm has a medical clinic and a regional hospital.

Campus Life

Co-curriculars like music, drama, and athletics keep our students busy. And annual events—Homecoming and Winter Carnival,  for example—are full of great activities, from ice sculpting to date auctions.

Then there are the informal activities that make your college years so memorable. Meet your friends at the union to watch a game on the big screen. Add your horn to the Pep Band at a basketball game. Study at Starbooks, the library coffee lounge. Join the 400+ students who play on an intramural team. Go snowboarding in Mankato (30 minutes away) or attend a concert or play in the Twin Cities (less than a two-hour drive). And be sure to check out New Ulm: swim at the indoor pool, ice skate at the arena, hike through beautiful Flandrau State Park, play a round of disc golf, or grab a latte at a downtown coffee shop.

I love the fact that everyone is so friendly and genuine at MLC. It amazes me how everyone smiles and says hi even if you’ve only chatted once. The unity of the student body is very apparent to me, and the faith that unifies them is incredible.” Elise Wordell, MLC 2010, Elementary Education
