Confessional Language Scholarship

To foster and support the study of German and Latin, the pre-seminary faculty of Martin Luther College has established the Confessional Language Scholarship.

This scholarship will be awarded to each pre-seminary student who chooses an emphasis or a minor in either German or Latin.

The following courses are eligible for a scholarship award when they are completed:

  • German Emphasis or Minor
    • One award for the completion of both GER2001 and GER2002
      • The amount of the award will be based on the higher of the two grades
    • One award for the completion of both GER 2011 and GER2012
      • The amount of the award will be based on the higher of the two grades
      • A student who tested out of GER2001 and GER2002 will receive a double award for the completion of both GER2011 and GER2012
    • One award for each German elective
    • One additional full award  for the completion of the minor (three electives)
  • Latin Emphasis or Minor
    • One award for the completion of both LAT2003 and LAT2004
      • The amount of the award will be based on the higher of the two grades
    • One award for the completion of both LAT2011 and LAT2012
      • The amount of the award will be based on the higher of the two grades
      • A student who tested out of LAT2003 and LAT2004 will receive a double award for completion of both LAT2011 and LAT2012
    • One award for each Latin elective
    • One additional full award for the completion of the minor (three electives)
  • Confessional Languages Emphasis or Minor
    • One award for the completion of both GER2001 and GER2002
      • The amount of the award will be based on the higher of the two grades
    • One award for GER2012
      • A student who tested out of GER2001 and GER2002 will receive a double award for completion of GER2012
    • One award for the completion of both LAT2003 and LAT2004
      • The amount of the award will be based on the higher of the two grades
    • One award for completion of LAT2012
      • A student who tested out of LAT2003 and LAT2004 will receive a double award for completion of LAT2012
  • One award for each elective in German or Latin
    • One additional full award for completion of the minor (two electives)
