Confessional Language Scholarship
To foster and support the study of German and Latin, the preseminary faculty of Martin Luther College has established the Confessional Language Scholarship.
This scholarship will be awarded to each preseminary student who chooses an emphasis or a minor in either German or Latin.
Scholarships will be awarded based on grades earned in courses as follows:

The following courses are eligible for a scholarship award:
- German Emphasis ($400-$1,000)
- One award for completion of the two GER2001 & GER2002 courses
- One award for completion of the two GER2011 & GER2012 courses
- German Minor ($1,200-$3,000)
- One additional award for completion of GER3021
- One additional award for completion of GER3022
- One additional award for completion of Guided Reading/Translation in German or GER4010
- One additional award for completion of the minor
- Latin Emphasis ($400-$1,000)
- One award for completion of the two LAT2003 & LAT2004 courses
- One award for completion of the two LAT2011 & LAT2012 courses
- Latin Minor ($1,200-$3,000)
- One additional award for completion of LAT3001
- One additional award for completion of LAT3003
- One additional award for completion of Guided Reading/Translation in Latin
- One additional award for completion of the minor
- Confessional Languages Emphasis ($800-$2,000)
- One award each for four of the six required courses (GER2001, GER2002, LAT2003, LAT2004, GER2012, LAT2012)
- Confessional Languages Minor ($1,400-$3,500)
- Two additional awards for completion of the two electives
- One additional award for completion of the minor
Note Well: In addition to the awards available from the Confessional Language Scholarship for every student who chooses a German, Latin, or confessional emphasis, additional awards are available from the NWC Alumni Society. Each year, the NWC Alumni Society makes three awards of $1,500 each. One award is for outstanding work in German, another for outstanding work in Latin, and the final award is for outstanding work in both German and Latin. These awards are generally made to rising seniors who have completed upper-level elective courses.
