Zumba!

Post-Zumba Selfie!

Led by certified Zumba instructor and MLC student, Mikala Schmitz, you can see that our Fitness Center Zumba classes are very popular with the student body here on campus!  Zumba is held at 8 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Aerobics Area of the MLC Fitness Center.  Contact Mikala Schmitz if you’d like more information about her classes.

What is Zumba?  According to Wikipedia: Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo. Squats and lunges are also included.

Mikala is a great teacher, full of energy and has a passion for sharing the gift of fitness with others.  Come and check it out!

Thank You Video

May 4th, 2016 was MLC Day! Here in the Fitness Center, we want to thank all of the generous donors and those who give offerings to Martin Luther College to help fund the equipment that the Fitness Center can offer our students, staff & faculty members to keep their bodies fit.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wednesday, April 13, is Arbor Day at MLC

Because of Arbor Day on the Martin Luther College Campus, April 13, 2016 (Wednesday), the Fitness Center will hold the following hours:

Open:  5:30-7:45 a.m.
Open:  3:00 p.m.-midnight

We hope our students will enjoy a day of actively serving Jesus by caring for our campus and its surrounding outdoor spaces.

Bosu Balance Trainers are Here!

Bosu Balance Trainers are now in the Fitness Center!  Thank you to the MLC Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) for their generous donation to the Fitness Center, we now have four new Bosu Balance Trainers for you to use.

Please visit the official Bosu website to find out more about how to use these pieces of equipment.  Once you visit that site, you will find all sorts of ideas on how to train using the Bosu Balance Trainers, inluding an extensive video diary of exercise ideas to target specific styles of training.

You will also find a blog on the Bosu website dedicated to informing you with the latest research, exercises and fitness trends using the Bosu Balance Training equipment.

Please use the Simple Green Solution (what we use for the Polar equipment) and a cleaning rag to wipe down the Bosu Trainers after you use them.  Do not use the harsh chemical cleaners as this will erode the surface of the dome.

Also, check your shoes prior to use, make sure no rocks, glass or other sharp edged objects are embedded in your shoes that may cause damage to the Bosu Balance Trainers.
