Welcome to the MLC Fitness Center!

HOURS: Sunday  1:00pm – 11:00pm  |  Mon-Thurs 5:30am – 11:00pm  |  Friday  5:30am – 9:00pm  |  Saturday  7:30am – 9:00pm (Closed for morning and evening chapel Monday-Friday)

The MLC Fitness Center is open to  current faculty and staff, and approved students with fob door access. At this time, due to the Fitness Center capacity limitations as stated by the Minnesota Stay Safe Plan and campus occupancy policies, the MLC Fitness Center is unable to accommodate other users, regardless of if the user is an MLC Fitness Center card holder.

Capacity is limited to 20 users at a time; your electronic sign-in will serve as your reservation. The reservation system remains active for those who wish to reserve a specific piece of equipment or guarantee use during a particular time. You may do so at the link provided below. Face masks are required at ALL times per executive order by Governor Tim Walz. You must wear your mask at all times when insides of gyms or fitness centers, including while exercising. Individuals who have medical or other health conditions, disabilities, or mental health condition, developmental, or behavioral needs, or are medically unable to wear a face covering, will require physicians’ documentation. Upon obtaining and providing physicians’ documentation to exclude the individual from wearing a face covering, the individual should wear a face shield. Executive Order 20-103 strongly discourages those who are unable to wear a mask from using exercise facilities at this time.

Reservations can be made under the Fitness Center Schedule at booked.mlc-wels.edu

Upon arrival for the workout, permitted users will:

  1. Come dressed and ready to work out (do not bring extra or unnecessary belongings into the FC).
  2. Ensure you have completed your daily CampusClear app usage prior to entering the facility. If you use the space from 5:30am – 10:25am you will need to show your completed CampusClear screen to the worker-on-duty when you sign-in.
  3. Enter through the main Fitness Center entrance and exit through the Fitness Center side door. The use of separate doors for entrance and exit will ensure social distancing and crossover of incoming and outgoing users.
  4. Wash hands immediately before entering or use hand sanitizer just inside main entrance (as stated in the Prevention Protocols — Hand-washing before using any equipment).
  5. Check in at the Fitness Center desk with your current campus ID/fob and check out a roll of paper towels and a spray bottle filled with cleaning solution. No ID/fob, no entrance.
  6. Wipe down the equipment before use.

Upon the end of the workout, the user will:

  1. Wipe down the equipment with the provided solution and paper towels.
  2. Return the provided solution and paper towels to the Fitness Center desk.
  3. Wash their hands or use hand sanitizer as stated in the Prevention Protocols (Hand-washing after using any equipment).
  4. Exit through the Fitness Center side door.

Fitness Center users are required to bring their own water-bottle for use inside the Fitness Center. To ensure cleanliness of water fountains and water-refill stations, the drinking fountain spout is closed off, but individuals are welcome to utilize the touch-less bottle refill option. Towel service will not be available, so please plan accordingly.

Users are not allowed to move equipment, including but not limited to: exercise equipment, televisions, remote controls, DVD players, garbage cans, etc. The Fitness Center workers will be responsible for television channel changes and any other adjustments to equipment locations. Please do not encroach on another user’s 6-feet of space; do not wander or hangout in the space between machines.

In keeping with Prevention Protocols — Social Distancing, machines are currently spaced for nine (9) feet of social distancing. New state mandates require nine (9) feet of social distance inside gyms and fitness centers between machines and anyone exercising. Any use of dumbbells, kettlebells, foam rollers, etc must be done within the designated spaces or platforms.  To further encourage social distancing, the Fitness Center entryway tables and chairs have been removed. Users should come ready to work out without loitering or socializing pre-workout, and leave at the end of of their workout time without loitering or socializing afterwards.
