Start with a Plan
Academic Goals
What you are doing right now is a building block for the future. Develop good study habits so you can be a successful student. It doesn’t always matter what grade you get – as long as you are doing your best! If you build good study habits now, that will help you to be successful in high school and that may lead to academic scholarships in college.
Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will be established.”
Financial Goals
Can you help mow a lawn? How about babysit for a neighbor? Anytime you find a few extra bucks in your pocket, you can put some of that money into a college account. Saving is another great habit to start right now!
Proverbs 21:5 “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.”
Career Goals
It is fun to start thinking about jobs you might like to have in the future. Maybe you want to work with animals and be a veterinarian, or work with your hands and be an electrician, or help teach the next generation and work in a classroom. You can start learning about different jobs and careers now and see what they are like. But just remember – whatever kind of job you decide is an opportunity to serve the Lord with your gifts! So find out your interests and your strengths and start a journal with your thoughts as you explore your options.
