Tuition

Martin Luther College is ranked as one of the most affordable online master’s in education programs in the country.  The 2023-24 graduate course tuition is priced at $350 per credit, $1,050 per 3-credit course.

Many of our graduate students qualify for aid to help them pay for their courses. We encourage you to look into student loans, employer reimbursement, and veterans’ benefits. We also offer a needs-based grant for those who qualify.

Student Loans

Student loans (FFEL Stafford Loans) are available for students enrolled half-time (which the college defines as 3-5 credits a term) or full-time (6 or more credits) in a graduate program. A link to the FAFSA can be found at http://www.studentaid.gov.

Students need to complete a FAFSA form to determine eligibility for these federal loans. MLC’s federal school code is 002361. When filing a FAFSA, also email the MLC director of financial aid to alert the director that you are a graduate student. The MLC Financial Aid Office will then receive the FAFSA result and will send an award letter notifying you of the amount of loan for which you are eligible.

Federal Financial Aid (Title IV) is not available for the Master of Science in Special Education program.

Veteran’s Benefits

The MLC Master of Science programs are approved for veteran’s benefits by the Minnesota State Approving Agency. Contact the MLC director of financial aid for further information.

Employer Reimbursement

We encourage you to check with your school and school district to see if you qualify for any tuition reimbursement benefits. Many congregations see professional development for their teachers as an investment in the future of their schools.

MLC Master’s Grant

Those qualified for public ministry in the WELS/ELS and for whom financial hardship prevents their participation in the MLC graduate studies program are encouraged to apply for needs-based financial assistance. Applicants must first seek financial assistance and professional development funds from their school or congregation. MLC Master’s Grant funds supplement, but do not replace, school and personal investment.

If you think you may qualify for the MLC Master’s Grant please fill out the form linked below and return it to the
