This degree provides a complete training, preparing you to become a K-12 special education teacher with licensure for mild to moderate learning disabilities. Upon completion of this program, you will have the option of earning a Minnesota LD license (transferable to your home state).

Providing our WELS teachers with the knowledge of special education, and having licensed special educators in our schools and classrooms, is an absolute game-changer. It means our schools are better equipped to support a wider range of students – children who might have received an education elsewhere and missed out on hearing God’s Word.

Master of Arts in Theological Studies

for teachers and staff ministers

The Master of Arts in Theological Studies is an online degree program that contributes to the spiritual and professional growth of individuals by equipping them to be reflective, competent, and dedicated workers in the Kingdom through advanced studies in Scripture, doctrine, church history, and ministry.

It is designed for persons who have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and prior completion of college-level biblical studies. Upon successful completion of this graduate program, students are awarded the Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) degree.

Master of Science in Education

The Master of Science in Education is an online degree program that has the goal of contributing to the professional growth of teachers and encouraging them to be reflective, competent, and dedicated educators of children. It is designed for persons who have an undergraduate degree in education from an accredited college or university. Upon successful completion of the graduate program, students are awarded the Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) degree.

Students in the program choose to focus their studies in one of four areas of emphasis – Educational Technology, Instruction, Leadership, and Special Education including MN Learning Disabilities Licensure. Students may also choose to complete a double emphasis, or to earn a master’s degree and post-baccalearuate licensure simultaneously.

I enjoyed being challenged to think outside the box. I could take what I was learning in my classes and apply strategies to my classroom lessons, watch the students grow and learn from the activities, then report about what changes were occurring in my classroom. The professors were always willing to provide constructive feedback on assignments, essays, and activities which helped me improve my interactions with not only my students but also our school staff and parents.

Master of Science in Educational Administration

The Master of Science in Educational Administration is an online degree program that provides training to meet the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod principal and early childhood director standards. The technology director track meets the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Education Leaders.

It is designed for persons who have an undergraduate degree in education from an accredited college or university. Upon successful completion of the graduate program, students are awarded the Master of Science degree in Educational Administration (MS Ed Admin).

Students in the program choose to focus their studies in either the early childhood director, principal, or technology director emphasis.

Early childhood directors encounter different challenges than principals, so when I heard about the new MS-Educational Administration degree with an ECE director emphasis at MLC, the decision to enroll was easy!
