Professor Peter Baganz teaches the general education history course United States History Since 1945, which gives him the opportunity to read research papers from almost every student that passes through the college. He is also the instructor for many of the American History elective courses offered by MLC as well as team teaching the course Foundations of History along with Professor Koelpin. Foundations in a historiography course that is the capstone course for all Social Studies majors.

A 1987 graduate of DMLC, Professor Baganz began his ministry on the Apache reservation at Our Savior’s Lutheran School in Bylas, AZ. After completing state licensure in history at Marian College in Fond du Lac, WI, he went on to teach history and computer courses for 19 years at Huron Valley Lutheran High School in Westland, MI. While there, he also obtained his MA in History from Eastern Michigan University. In addition, he fed his love of history and travel by leading seven tours of Europe with high school students and members of their families. He has now had the opportunity to visit 47 states and 15 foreign countries.

In 2015 he accepted the call to MLC and moved to New Ulm with his wife Christine and son Jacob. In addition to his college duties, he continues to serve on the Board of Directors and teach courses for Area Lutheran High Schools Online (ALHSO) as he has done for the past five years, giving him the opportunity to continue to work with some high school students as well as teaching at the college level.
