Assistant Professor, Teacher Education and Professional Development, Central Michigan University

As an assistant professor at CMU, Kristina is responsible for leading EDU107 Introduction to Education as well as teaching multiple sections during the Fall and Spring.  In addition to EDU107, she teaches other graduate and literacy courses.  Kristina is also involved on department and college curriculum committees and works with EDU107 instructors to maintain continuity throughout the sections.

Dr. Rouech completed a Ph.D. in Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.  Her dissertation focused on the questions that upper elementary teachers asked their students during whole-group read-alouds. Additional research interests include non-traditional education student experiences, motivating pre-service teachers to pursue education, dispositions required for effective teaching, constructing courses with a lead instructor model, and reading aloud for instructional purposes.

Dr. Rouech grew up in Bay City, Michigan. She has taught elementary school for nine years while working on higher degrees in order to move into a tenure-track position at the university level. She currently belongs to Bethel Lutheran Church in Bay City, MI and enjoys reading, spending time up north with family, and travelling.
