I am Dr. Carrie Pfeifer, and am so blessed to be able to serve my alma mater, MLC as an adjunct member of the graduate faculty. I have taught several post-bac classes for MLC including Human Relations and Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders. These classes have given me the opportunity to work with some outstanding WELS professionals. In the graduate program I will be teaching the course Diversity in Education.

My master’s degree is in Curriculum and Instruction from the Minnesota State University, Mankato . I received my doctorate in 2003 from Nova Southeastern with a program focus in special education. My dissertation studied support programs for students with learning differences within our WELS secondary schools.

Helping students with learning differences has always been my passion and was a big part of my call at St. Croix Lutheran High School and Middle School in West St. Paul. I served at St. Croix Lutheran High School and Middle School as the Learning Resources Director, a program that serves the needs of students with learning differences. I also taught several courses in the English department and was the Director of Student Residences.

My husband Gene serves at Bethany Lutheran College as the president. He also is a member of the MLC graduate school faculty. We have three children: Jesse (29) who was recently married to his lovely wife, Naomi. He resides in Portland, Oregon and works for the 3M Corporation. Our daughter Nicole (26) is married to a wonderful young man, Corey. Nicole is a singer/song writer-a career that is currently flourishing both in Minnesota and nationally. Our youngest son Jordan (21) works for Home Depot.

I believe MLC has one of the best teacher education programs in the nation and I am so honored to be able to serve on its adjunct faculty.
