Alumni Relations Student Worker (2024 – 2025)

Job Description:  The Alumni Relations Student Assistant provides administrative support for the Director of Alumni Relations. This position also works with history, processing donated archive materials and entering them in the database. Administrative skills, ability to prioritize and work with deadlines, as well as strong computer skills are needed to be successful in this position. The alumni student worker may occasionally work at alumni events held evenings or on weekends.

Core Duties:

  • Provide administrative/clerical support, including updates to the database, mailing, copying, and campus errands. 
  • Assist with special events that may include event preparation, event staffing, and post-event duties as assigned
  • Ability to communicate professionally with alumni
  • Create and post to social media and respond to alumni via social media

Job Qualifications:  A strong candidate will possess the following qualities, skills, and attitudes:  highly detail oriented; above average written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently; medium to high level computer skills and aptitude (scanning/word processing/photo editing/database); able to work on an as-needed basis; positive and passionate about MLC and its history.

Employment dates: August 26, 2024 – May 16, 2025 (2024-2025 Academic Year)
Working hours and days: Hours will vary depending on season and projects. They may be heavy leading up to and during events and light during other periods. Typically, some time is required during the traditional work day (8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) along with some evenings and weekends.
Regular or Occasional: occasional
Minimum age for employment: Individual must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Student Life policies state: student employees may only have one regular job and may not work more than 19 hours per week.

Salary: $11.85 per hour
