One Mission – Endless Opportunities
The mission of Martin Luther College is to train men and women to meet the public ministry needs of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
Glory in His Grasp
2024 Advent Devotional from Martin Luther College
As we gather around the manger this year, we’ll meditate on that ancient hymn Paul writes in Philippians 2:6-11. We’ll contemplate how Christ “emptied himself . . . being born in the likeness of men.” We’ll stand in awe at how the Son of God, co-equal with the Father, chose for a time not to cling to the full and constant use of his glory and power: “He did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped.” And we’ll rejoice in the Second Advent, when our Lord in all his glory will come once again.
A Story in Every Breath
December 14, 7:30 pm
December 15, 2:00 pm
(Martin Luther College Auditorium)
Consider for a moment that every breath you take in contains words spoken by someone else. The words of someone else’s story. This year’s pair of one-acts tells two such stories in “And the Giants Fell” and “Antigone Now.”
“The noise was deafening when the giants fell.” Todd Ford’s pointed one-act is a collection of vignettes from 9/11 that explore the lives, motivations, and after-effects of the tragedy on victims and terrorists alike. Portraying multiple characters, an ensemble cast reflects upon the devastation and the arduous journey from fear to hope.
In the midst of a bombed-out city still feeling the aftershocks of war, the rebellious and intense Antigone defies her uncle to bury her disgraced brother. Melissa Cooper’s “Antigone Now,” a contemporary response to Sophocles’ original myth, brings powerful, modern prose to this ancient and universal story.
We hope you will join us to experience A Story in Every Breath.
Tickets ($5 for all attendees) will be sold at the door only, beginning 30 minutes before each show time.

Old Main Needs Our Help
Old Main has stood for 140 years as an enduring symbol of MLC’s mission and history. The condition of the entrance, however, does not match the grandeur of the building. The concrete is dissolving, and the sides are leaning, making it unsafe, especially in the winter.
We plan to replace the entrance stairway and repair the foundation along the front of the building. The new design honors the heritage of the old building while creating an aesthetically pleasing covered entrance that is safe and protected from winter damage.
A generous donor has agreed to match all gifts dollar for dollar up to $275,000! Our goal is to have the funding secured by December 31, 2024, to begin repairs in 2025.
