Dr. Lawrence Olson served on the Congregational Assistant Program (CAP) Committee from its beginning in 2000. In addition, he also wrote the materials for The Christian Family, one of the courses in the program.

Dr. Olson became the director of the program in 2002. He oversees the development of curriculum for the program, travels around the United States and Canada presenting seminars and promoting the program, and approves the admission of students into the program.

Dr. Olson also serves as director of the Staff Ministry Program and as a professor of theology at Martin Luther College (MLC) in New Ulm, a position he has held since 1993. Prior to receiving a divine call to MLC, Olson served as the pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Loves Park, Illinois, for 10 years.

Dr. Olson graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, in 1983. He later earned a Master of Sacred Theology degree from WLS and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Olson and his wife, Mary, have six children and five grandchildren.
