Competency-Based Theology (CBTE) Minor
CBTE is MLC’s first online, competency-based education course of study. The year-long course of study prepares individuals to serve in the public ministry by focusing on the core foundation of our shared faith.
Learners who are accepted into the program will complete two courses every fifteen weeks, with about a week break scheduled between terms.
These six courses are designed to support learners as they engage with God’s Word and Lutheran doctrine to
- Understand scriptures Christocentrically
- Apply law and gospel to self and others
- Embrace and evangelically defend Lutheran doctrine

The content is designed to encourage thoughtful reflection on what it means to be a Christian Educator in our modern world.
