MLC’s effort to build a competency-based education program for returning adult learners has been richly blessed by your prayers and donations.
With the active support of the WELS Ministry of Christian Giving we have received $300,000 in grant funding from the Schwan Foundation, Siebert Lutheran Foundation, and the Neumann Family foundation. These gifts have been allocated to our first two years of staffing needs, providing for our two called workers since they began their work in January 2023, the stipends for faculty developing courses with us, and the costs of attendance at conferences relevant to our work in competency-based education.
We also received an addtional $377,433 in charitable gifts and commitments from 754 donors around the country who see this program as a creative way to train more lead teachers in our elementary schools and help address the teacher shortage. These gifts have been instrumental in supporting the technology needs of an online program, providing tuition support for learners in our first cohort who have demonstrated financial need, and will cover the course design stipdends for faculty and salary costs of the two called workers leading this initiative in the 2025 calendar year.
