SUMMARY
Martin Luther College is seeking a welcoming, organized, and service-oriented Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for students, workers, visitors, and the public. This position creates a positive first and lasting impression with exceptional customer service, directing inquiries, supporting mail and shipping services, and assisting with financial transaction processing. As a visible representative of the college, the Receptionist plays an important role in ensuring smooth operations while extending Christian hospitality.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys serving others, thrives in a people-focused environment, and takes pride in staying organized while balancing a variety of daily responsibilities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome and assist campus visitors with professionalism and hospitality.
- Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls and inquiries.
- Provide accurate information about campus offices, services, and events.
- Open, close, and maintain the reception area.
- Process routine financial transactions and customer payments.
- Balance the cash drawer and maintain transaction records.
- Process outgoing mail and packages, and provide support with mail distribution as necessary.
- Send and receive faxes, manage credit card checkout, and distribute dining hall tickets.
- Prepare daily receipts and deposits for Financial Services.
- Perform general administrative and clerical support.
- Coordinate reception coverage with staff and student workers.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- A deep commitment to the mission and core values of WELS and MLC, and an ability to apply that commitment in the performance of daily responsibilities.
- One or more years of customer service, administrative, receptionist, or related experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google, and standard office equipment.
Preferred:
- Preference may be given to an active member of the WELS or church body in fellowship with the WELS.
- Three or more years of receptionist, administrative support, or customer service experience.
- Experience handling cash, receipts, or basic financial transactions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT & BENEFITS
- This position works on-site at the MLC reception desk during business hours.
- Work hours may include full or partial days based on campus needs and scheduling coordination with other reception staff.
