SUMMARY

The Athletics Equipment Manager manages and oversees the maintenance of athletic and sports uniforms and equipment for Martin Luther College’s various sixteen (16) intercollegiate athletic sports programs. This position reports to the MLC Athletic Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities and duties of the position shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Communicate effectively via phone, email and in person.
  • Oversees the day-to-day needs of the student athletes and assignment of towels, practice gear, and uniforms.
  • Establishes, maintains, and reconciles uniform and some equipment inventories.
  • Submits requests for equipment maintenance and equipment replacement to ensure proper inventory.  
  • Oversees uniform and equipment distribution including end-of-day retrieval at practices and games.
  • Ensures that all uniforms, related apparel, and equipment are maintained in a clean and serviceable condition. 
  • Conduct other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Knowledge and experience, or ability to obtain, with athletic supplies, mechanical and electronic equipment, services, uniform repair and inventory control.
  • Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Experience participating at a Division III college level is preferred.
  • General understanding and background of the sixteen (16) intercollegiate athletic sports programs is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, twist, bend, kneel, move around, and reach with hands and arms. This individual is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, manipulate objects, give direction, tools or controls, and communicate, talk or hear. This position requires frequent mobility and is walking and standing for the entire workday. This individual must routinely be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment can range from low to moderate. This environment is exposed to Martin Luther College approved chemicals and equipment. Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. This position does not require travel. This position is not authorized for telecommuting.

COMPENSATION

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with responsibilities and experience. This is a 0.375 FTE (15 hours weekly), year-round, non-exempt hourly, non-benefit eligible position.
