This fund was established at Martin Luther College in memory of Rola Wiedmann (1923-2007) by her husband, Rev. Harry Wiedmann, and her children in honor of her lifelong commitment to Christian education. Mrs. Wiedmann served her Lord as a registered nurse and as a lifelong church choir member. The Wiedmann family prays that the award provides encouragement to young people in the teaching and preaching ministry, and helps reinforce their commitment to the Lord’s work. “Then I heard the voice of the LORD saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I, send me!’” (Isaiah 6:8).
Two recipients of the award are chosen annually, one male and one female, with preference given to students from the following congregations Pastor Wiedmann served: St. John-Burlington, Wisconsin, St. Peter-Helenville, Wisconsin, and Mt. Calvary-Waukesha, Wisconsin. The students’ class, GPA, and choir participation are factors in the selection.
