Joshua Birkholz and Tracy (Gray) Birkholz (MLC ’97), being so moved by the commitment of young people to choose a life of service to God’s kingdom, were pleased to establish the Birkholz and Gray Family Scholarship fund in 2021.
Josh is the CEO of BWF, a consulting firm helping nonprofits with their philanthropic strategies. Although not a called worker, Josh is a strong advocate that every believer is provided with the gifts from God to be an essential servant of his kingdom.
Tracy, a former teacher at Emanuel (now Crown of Life)-West St. Paul MN and Shepherd of the Hills-Inver Grove Heights MN, is an active leader of a women’s ministry at Bloomington Living Hope-Bloomington MN.
Both Josh and Tracy enjoy serving as volunteers and as financial supporters. They volunteer at their church in the areas of music, youth discipleship, and women’s ministry, and they volunteer and serve on boards for international WELS/ELS ministries.
With missionaries, pastors, and teachers on both sides of the family, Josh and Tracy continue to be moved by the many ways the Holy Spirit works through their family for his good and perfect purpose.
“We are overjoyed to support the next generation of servants,” they said, “and to provide an example of Christian giving for other alumni and friends of MLC.”
Birkholz & Gray Family Scholarship recipients are MLC students who demonstrate financial need and meet one of the following criteria, in order of priority: 1) international students; 2) children of international missionaries; 3) children of those who have served or are serving overseas in a WELS/ELS/CELC ministry.
