Ron and Char (Ulrich) Morrow established an endowed scholarship fund in 2024 and an annual scholarship fund in 2025.
They have a special connection to New Ulm and the MLC campus. Char’s father grew up in New Ulm, and Ron lived across from campus on Highland Avenue for four years during his youth.
Ron was a businessman, and Char was a public high school teacher. They have been members of Christ Lutheran Church in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, for 50 years. For 30 years, Ron served as Sunday school superintendent, and for 35 years, Char was a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher.
In retirement, they spend winters in Goodyear, Arizona, and attend River of Life Lutheran Church. Every spring, MLC students come to help with outreach and evangelism, demonstrating a Christian enthusiasm and eagerness to talk about their Savior with others. Ron and Char saw the need to support these young people they see as the key to the future of WELS congregations.
As Ron writes, “Our synod is blessed to have MLC serve as the training ground for the young people who are the future of WELS churches everywhere.” Ron and Char feel blessed to assist with both their prayers and financial gifts.
The couple started the Ron and Char (Ulrich) Morrow Endowed Scholarship Fund first, seeing an endowed scholarship fund as a wonderful way to assist MLC students over the long term and leave a lasting Christian legacy.
In 2025, recognizing that MLC students need help with their college costs now, Ron and Char added an annual scholarship. The annual fund awards all of its money each year. With God’s blessing, the Morrows hope to continue this fund for several years. It will encourage current and future students to pursue their education and become WELS called workers.
This scholarship is awarded to secondary education majors with financial need.
