Martin Albrecht (1909-1993) served his Lord and the WELS as a teacher, pastor, professor, and choir director, as well as chairman of the Board for Parish Education and chairman of the Hymnal Committee. During his tenures at Dr. Martin Luther College (1943-1962) and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (1962-1985), Professor Albrecht shared his love of Lutheran liturgy and hymnody through his musical arrangements and choir concerts, training two generations of pastors and teachers in church music. His family established this scholarship because they are “grateful that God gave extraordinary gifts to Professor Albrecht and led him to share those gifts through a lifetime of ministry in the WELS.”
Scholarship winners have demonstrated a potential to serve as leaders in WELS music ministries. They may be enrolled in any program, major, or emphasis at MLC.
