The Larry R. Moldenhauer Scholarship was established in his memory in 2025 by his wife, Carol.
Larry’s parents, Robert and Elaine Moldenhauer, were WELS teachers who served many congregations in Wisconsin. It was through their example of teaching about Jesus in elementary classrooms that Larry developed a heart for called workers. Though he was a process engineer, he felt a special connection with these ministers of the gospel.
Larry met his wife, Carol, in 1979 after she was assigned to St. Luke Lutheran School in Oakfield, Wisconsin. They were married in June of 1982 and were blessed with four children. Throughout their married life and through many job-related moves, Larry always supported the called workers in his congregation. God called Larry home on August 15, 2023.
Carol established this scholarship to provide tuition assistance for future educators while they study at Martin Luther College. She sees it as a way to continue supporting WELS teachers, just as Larry would have.
Scholarship recipients are education majors who demonstrate financial need.
