This scholarship fund was established in 2017 by Kenneth and Mary Abraham.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Ken was a teacher for 38 years, 27 of them in a fifth-grade classroom. He retired in 1995.
Mary worked for Trane Inc. in La Crosse for almost 50 years, from 1961 to 2009.
As enthusiastic supporters of education, Ken and Mary felt that the establishment of this scholarship was one way they could encourage and support young people preparing for the teaching ministry.
Along with their financial assistance, they also send their prayerful encouragement—even after MLC students graduate from college and begin their ministries: “Teaching can be challenging at times, but it is vitally important work. And the best teachers are those who never stop learning, who continue being students even after they become teachers.”
Ken and Mary are members at St. Matthew-Stoddard, Wisconsin. They are grateful that God has blessed them financially and provided them this opportunity to give generously.
Income from this fund is distributed to education majors who demonstrate financial need.
