The Holzhueter Family Scholarship was established in 2022 by the Holzhueter Foundation. Paul and Valerie Holzhueter established this foundation for the sole purpose of supporting WELS and ELS synodical and para-synodical ministries around the country and the world.
The Holzhueter family strongly supports the mission of Martin Luther College and hopes this endowed scholarship can provide encouragement and impactful financial assistance to future called workers throughout their training at MLC.
The intent of the scholarship is to give particular encouragement and assistance to underrepresented students at MLC.
Holzhueter Family Scholarship recipients are students of any major who demonstrate financial need and who meet one or more of these criteria:
- Public school graduate
- Diverse background (international, non-white, and/or whose first language is not English)
- Residence outside the Upper Midwest (Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Michigan, Wisconsin)
- Family with few or no others serving in the ministry
