Gerhard Bauer (1926-2005) exemplified exceptional skills in the profession of teaching. Through his 20 years of ministry at Dr. Martin Luther College, he influenced many teachers of the WELS as a student teaching supervisor, as a model of exceptional teaching, and as a spiritual mentor. This scholarship was established upon the death of Gerhard Bauer in 2005 by his wife, Elvera Bauer.
Scholarship winners are education majors who have demonstrated both exceptional teaching ability and spiritual maturity.
