This scholarship was established in 2024 in memory of Beth Washow Wagie, a woman with an extraordinary capacity to love and nurture little children. She understood that by caring about and loving them, doing things with them, and showing them how special they were in the sight of the Lord, children would reflect that love in their lives.
Beth wanted to be a teacher from the time she was a little girl. She always said she was only an average student, but she made up for any academic shortcomings with her enthusiasm and care. People remember little children following her around because they loved her so much.
After she graduated from DMLC in 1971, Beth never stopped learning. Through her teaching years, she took courses to stay current with new ideas and learn additional ways to nurture Jesus’ precious lambs. Everyone who knew her will remember her tremendous love for little children and her laugh. People always noticed her laugh.
Her husband, John, established this scholarship to honor his beloved and support something Beth loved dearly.
Scholarship recipients are early childhood majors who demonstrate financial need and have a GPA between 2.0 and 3.0.
