The MLC Auxiliary purpose is fourfold:
-
- To promote greater interest in Martin Luther College.
- To promote Christian fellowship among members of WELS and those in Synodical fellowship
- To give financial support to MLC by supplying funds for needed projects that are not included in the Synod budget.
- To support MLC and its students through prayer
It is organized and operated by members in Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and northern Iowa, and supported financially by individuals all over the country. The members gather at a joint Auxiliary Day on MLC’s campus every October for a morning of fellowship and discussions on how to support MLC students. They hear campus updates and presentations about various projects the Auxiliary funds. They are treated to a preview of the upcoming musical. They elect a new president and vote on the priority order of non-budgetary projects submitted by faculty and staff. These projects enhance classroom experiences, provide social outlets for students, and enhance student life.
The MLC Auxiliary also sponsors student events throughout the year like a cocoa bar during finals week and BINGO Night in late winter.
This scholarship fund was established in 1963 and benefits four students each year. This scholarship is renewable. The student selected in his or her first year will receive these funds for four consecutive years.
Scholarship winners are first-year students with a GPA of 3.75 or better who have financial need. Renewable.
