Dorothy Amthor established this endowed scholarship in 2024 to fulfill the vision she shared with her husband, the late Dr. William Amthor.
The Amthors dedicated their lives to education. Dorothy was a music teacher and taught a little French on the side. Bill taught engineering graphics at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he established their first computer lab. He retired in 1989 as chair of the graphic communications department.
Dorothy and Bill planned to set up this endowment even before his passing in 2022. They understood the importance of teaching children right from the start about their Lord and Savior. To reflect God’s blessings in their lives, they wanted to use this gift to encourage the next generation of teachers.
Scholarship recipients are elementary education majors who demonstrate financial need.
