Peggy Witt established two scholarships in 2024 to encourage nontraditional students to attain a Child Development Associate® (CDA) credential. One scholarship focuses on earning an infant/toddler credential. The second is for those working on their preschool credential.
Peggy has been instrumental in developing the online Early Childhood CDA Credential Training program at Martin Luther College. This prepares people to apply for and qualify to receive a CDA through a national credentialing program. This is the first level of professional recognition for early childhood teachers.
As Peggy stated, “I firmly believe this ministry is an extremely valuable and most blessed way to glorify God and to help meet the important earthly and spiritual needs of young children.”
These scholarships provide support for nontraditional students who can’t physically attend MLC. They focus on students enrolled in the final course of the online program. Since these students aren’t called workers, they often don’t receive congregational support for continuing education.
“My hope and prayer,” says Peggy, “is that this scholarship will provide some extra encouragement to those who are working to complete a challenging course of study. It’s a way to acknowledge the struggle to become more capable, caring servants of Christ for the precious lives in their care.”
Peggy sums up her passion for the work in these thoughts: “May God bless all those who receive some earthly assistance in this way for the eternally important work they do with young children and their families.”
All students enrolled in either the infant/toddler or preschool Childhood Basics III course for the Early Childhood CDA Credential Training receive scholarship funds.
