The Katherine (Ewald) Alderman Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 by Rev. Gregory and Mrs. Cheryl Ewald in loving memory of their daughter Katherine (1984-2021).
Katherine graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 2002. With a deep desire to teach little children the love of their Savior, she attended Martin Luther College, graduating in 2006 with a degree in elementary education. She was privileged to teach God’s “little people” at St. John’s in Sparta, Wisconsin, and St. Matthew in Stoddard, Wisconsin. Katie was also an accomplished pianist and organist and used this gift in her classroom, her congregation, and neighboring congregations as well.
The family says, “Katie loved learning and relished the privilege the Lord gave her to use her gifts in an area of his ministry that she loved. While at MLC, she wanted to devote more of her hours to studying than to working a job in order to pay her tuition, so she was always excited when scholarships came her way. We wish to convey the love Katie had for teaching to a woman who is likeminded and needs assistance in paying her school bill.”
Katherine (Ewald) Alderman Memorial Scholarship recipients are female education majors who demonstrate financial need.
