General Application Information
Martin Luther College is a small, Christian liberal arts institution established and operated by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), offering programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Bachelor of Science in Education degrees. At Martin Luther College an international student is defined as someone who requires a student visa (F-1) to study in the U.S.
The information below is intended to help answer some of the questions you may have about applying to MLC. For answers to any of your questions, you are welcome to contact Megan Kassuelke, Director of Cultural Engagement.

International Application Requirements
Unless noted, the following items are required for admission.
- Complete the online application.
- TOEFL (minimum score 80) or Academic IELTS (minimum band 6.5) for non-native English speakers.
- ACT or SAT scores for native English speakers only. Please note: If you are applying to the Secondary Math or Secondary Science program an ACT may be required of both native and non-native English speakers.
- Two letters of recommendation, one from your high school and one from your pastor. If you have already completed high school, have been enrolled in another college or university, and are transferring to MLC you would not need to provide a high school recommendation.
- Official high school transcripts (with the school seal stamp and official signature) sent directly by a school official. If the transcript is not in English, the applicant must also submit an English translation of the transcript with the name and position of the person who translated the document.
- Official college/university transcripts (if applicable).
- International Student Financial Aid Analysis form (required for student visa certification).
- Certified financial documents verifying the amount of funding available for your education. Documents may include bank statements dated within the last three months, evidence of assets, or scholarship award letters. U.S. immigration law requires documentation of funding before a school can issue an I-20.
English Proficiency Requirement
If English is not your native language the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is required.
Minimum TOEFL score is 80 (IBT). Scores must be sent directly to Martin Luther College from ETS; the code assigned to MLC is 6435. Academic IELTS minimum band is 6.5. Visit www.TOEFL.org or www.IELTS.org.
