Vritualization Outage on Mar 4, 2016

This morning around 6:50 am one of the application host servers for our virtualization infrastructure went unresponsive. This brought down a small portion of our virtual machines including some development instances along with these public-facing websites:

  • Public website (mlc-wels.edu)
  • Authentication server (auth.mlc-wels.edu)
  • Filr (filr.mlc-wels.edu)

By 8:30 am all of the virtual machines were migrated to another application host server and are operational again. Initial investigation as to the source of the issue is still ongoing, but downtime was prolonged due to the failed host server “forgetting” its network configuration and needing to be reconfigured before it could be added to the pool of servers or even started up successfully.

If you notice any continued issues, please file a support ticket or directly contact MLC Network Services.
