The season finale Around the World is on April 7th and features cello and piano duets by Lucas Foss, Felix Mendelssohn, and Dmitri Shostakovich and performed by Anthony Ross and Bethel. With its rich timbre the cello evokes the human voice in its capacity to convey emotion. The piano carries a similar dramatic heft. Foss’s refreshing Capriccio, Mendelssohn’s gorgeous D Major Cello Sonata, and Shostakovich’s iconic Cello Sonata afford both instruments room to explore their range and reach for the heart.
