Jr. Knights Band Festival – CANCELLED

April 14, 2018

Martin Luther College Jr. Knights Band Festival offers 4th – 8th grade instrumentalists the opportunity to improve their instrument technique through individual instrument sectionals and instrument family masterclasses, develop greater rehearsal and ensemble skills, play with other elementary students in a large-group rehearsal setting, and perform alongside our MLC students and instrumental music majors. The public is invited to the culminating performance at 7:30 pm, when the festival participants will play alongside the MLC Wind Symphony.

Friday, April 20 Chapel of the Christ The Southwest Area Lutheran Chorale will join the MLC campus family for evening worship Friday, April 20, at 7:15 pm in Chapel of the Christ. The Chorale will enhance the evening chapel service and also perform a mini-concert following the service at 7:45. Light refreshments will be served following the concert in the chapel fellowship room. The public is invited to attend the worship and the concert.

An Affirmation of Life Sunday, April 29, 7:30 pm MLC Auditorium The Martin Luther College Wind Symphony presents "An Affirmation of Life," its pre-tour concert season finale, on Sunday, April 29, at 7:30 pm in the Wittenberg Collegiate Center Auditorium. The program includes several works dealing with life transitions and death, such as "Rest" by Ticheli, "Funeral March in Memory of Rikard Nordraak" by Grieg, "On This Bright Morning" by Maslanka, and "Suite Francaise" by Milhaud.

Elsie Koutia, Emily Schmidt, Tara Winecke, and Rachel Winter will be performing a concerto recital at 6:30 PM on Saturday, May 5 in the Chapel of the Christ. These four students are juniors and seniors in the Instrumental Music program. Each performer will present a full concerto on her primary instrument, including flute, oboe, and French horn. Works include pieces by Telemann, Mozart, and Blauth.
