2012 Student Awards Announced

Below is a listing of the recipients of awards for 2012.

The Brooks Scholarship – presented by MLC President Mark Zarling

Recipients – Julius Buelow and Andrew Gerlach

Every year, since 1984, the Brooks scholarship has been helping men enrolling at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary with tuition assistance for all three years of classroom study.

The Knight’s Awardpresented by MLC Athletic Director Jim Unke

Recipients – Women: Emily Boldt, Men: Joseph Lindloff, Jacob Unke

The Knight’s Award is presented to individuals for their contribution to the Martin Luther College athletic program throughout their collegiate career.  The award is based on participation, sportsmanship, and excellence in the area of athletics.

Leading Scholar Awards presented by MLC Academic Deans, Dan Balge and Kurt Wittmershaus

Recipient – Nathan Schulte and Rachel Rupnow

These awards are given to the students with the highest GPA in each area of study.

UMAC Scholar Athlete Awardpresented by MLC Athletic Director Jim Unke

Recipients – Julius Buelow and Hannah Janke

This award, which is given to one male and one female student athlete, recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate a healthy balance by achieving excellence in academics, leadership, and service, while participating in intercollegiate athletics.

Student Senate Awards

Presented by Student Senate representative Sam Jeske

Recipient – Matthew Stuebs

The Student Senate Award is presented to a Student Senate member who has excelled in service to the MLC Student Senate and the MLC campus family.

Recipient – Caleb Schmiege

The Fine Arts Award is presented to a graduating student who has excelled in the area of music, musical performance, drama, or campus publications throughout his/her college career.

Recipient – Jacki Adams

The Service Award is presented to a graduating student who has demonstrated a charitable character.  The recipient of this award is known by both the student body and faculty of Martin Luther College for using talents and time in Christian service to others.

Recipient – Kurtis Wetzel

The Via Veritas Vita Award is presented to a student who demonstrates a true Christian character as well as school spirit.  Such a person demonstrates faithfulness to personal responsibilities, willingness to help others, and distinguishable leadership qualities.
