Applied Instrument Lessons

are individual instruction in woodwind, brass, percussion, or string instruments taught by a faculty member or by an appointed teacher specializing in that instrument.  The Music Division offers one-credit courses, lessons lasting twenty-five minutes each week or two-credit courses, lessons lasting fifty minutes each week.  Both levels culminate in a recital at the end of the semester.  Individual lesson instructors will assign students to the appropriate level of lessons based on their degree program and musical proficiency.

Applied Vocal Lessons

are individual vocal instruction taught by a faculty member.

Lessons are available to all students regardless of major.  However, as individual lessons represent a course taken for college credit, students taking private lessons are generally experienced performers on their instrument or voice. Music majors are given priority for all lessons instructors, but music minors and non-majors are also welcome, based on the availability of the faculty.
