*** Poetry Contest

April is national poetry month.

The MLC Library is hosting a Poetry Contest for current MLC students. Students are invited to submit up to two original poems in a category of their choice. Entries are to be submitted electronically by completing the entry form below. Submissions are due by 12:00 noon, Friday April, 24th.


  1. Open to all current MLC students.
  2. The number of poems submitted by an individual is limited to two.
  3. Categories to choose from are:
    1. Acrostic
    2. Limerick
    3. Haiku
    4. Lyric
    5. Free Verse
    6. Twihaiku (140 characters) Micropoetry
  4. All poems remain the property of the artist.
  5. By submitting to this contest the artist is giving the MLC library rights to publish their poem on it's website.


1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be selected to receive cash prizes of $25, $15, and $10, respectively. Judging the entries on originality, creativity, and artistic ability, will be the MLC Library staff.


Recipients will be notified by email.


We respect the right of individuals to freely express themselves in poetry, but we do not accept poetry that is offensive. Please keep this in mind as you submit your poems.
