How blessed we are that our Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod has provided a place–Martin Luther College (MLC)–for our future pastors and teachers to receive a quality Christian college education. These young people spend 4-5 years or more at the college preparing to serve their Lord and you.
Have you ever thought about sending one of these students a note of encouragement? Or a birthday card? Or a gift card to help pay for gas so they can get back home to visit family? Or a box of those delicious chocolate chip cookies you make?
The MLC Ladies’ Auxiliary would like to assist you in finding one (or more) students who would greatly appreciate some encouraging words from you during the time they are at MLC. We are calling this the “Befriend an MLC Student” program. Once you have notified us that your church would like to take part in this program, we would send you a photo, mailing address, e-mail address, and birth date of one of the MLC students. We will also send you some suggestions of things other congregations have done in the past. Your congregation can decide how best to encourage this young person.
If there is an individual or family within your congregation who would like to befriend a different student, please give them this information and ask them to contact us.
Our goal is to set up a “friend” for as many of our students as possible. If you are already befriending a MLC student, we hope you will continue to do so. If you would like to befriend an additional or different student, you may request the name of another student.
