Graduate Programs under Construction
Master of Science in Educational Administration: This degree is being designed to meet the unique ministry needs of WELS principals and early childhood directors. WELS standards for both audiences have been developed. These standards are driving the curriculum. Existing courses are being aligned to the standards, and new courses with new instructors are being added. Some of the new courses being developed include Leadership for Change, Leading the School Community, The Principalship, and School Business Administration. The goal of this program is two-fold: 1) to serve existing WELS school leaders with useful courses and/or a degree, and 2) to prepare the next generation of WELS principals and early childhood directors. We hope to gain approval from our accrediting agency to offer this degree in 2015.
Master of Theology: Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary has been offering this degree, but recently asked MLC to bring it into its program to seek accreditation and to better reach its intended audience – teachers and staff ministers. Course offerings are being fleshed out at this time.
Master of Science in Education: Special Education emphasis: In conjunction with MLC's new special education undergraduate major, the graduate special education emphasis is being re-aligned to meet state licensure standards in the area of learning disabilities. The plan is to apply in the fall of 2014 to the state of Minnesota for licensure of both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
