I currently serve on the Education and Psychology faculties at Martin Luther College. I teach Psychology of Learning for undergraduates. I also teach a required course during summer session, EDU 9540 Principles of Christian Education, for Synodical certification of WELS educators. My graduate faculty responsibilities include Supervision of Instruction and School Law.

My teaching experiences have privileged me to work with Kindergarteners through adults. I have taught all subjects across the grades over my career. I enjoy working with learners of all ages. I have served as principal of elementary, middle, and secondary schools in the WELS. I began my career in Nebraska, later moved to Minnesota, then to California, and back to Minnesota. The Lord has called me to serve grade schools, departmentalized elementary and middle schools, and high schools prior to his leading me to MLC. I am the MLC representative for the Commission of Lutheran Schools. I also currently serve as chair of the MN Nonpublic Education Council at the MN Department of Education and am a member of the MN Board of Teaching Standards and Rules Committee.

My primary research is in the area of principal preparation and principal professional growth. I am currently working with legal literacy as it impacts our WELS classroom and school leaders. My doctoral work was done in the areas of policy development and administration. I am committed to supporting WELS classroom and school leaders in their efforts to grow professionally. Improving dedicated and committed WELS educators is not only necessary but also gratifying work.

I am a husband, father, and grandfather. My wife Marti and I have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. We love visiting family. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and playing a little golf in my spare time. I am convinced that the results in any of these pastimes are not as important as those with whom we enjoy doing them.
