Dr. Cindy Whaley is a Professor of Education at Martin Luther College. She taught for fifteen years in two different congregations in Wisconsin before coming to D/MLC in 1993. Her elementary experiences were in multigrade settings teaching students in grades one through six. She currently teaches courses in curriculum and instruction and literacy methods to undergraduates, a graduate reading course in the masters program, oversees the post-baccalaureate programs, and serves as licensure officer. Dr. Whaley is president of the Southwest Minnesota Reading Council and serves on the Minnesota Department of Education Literacy Task Force.
Dr. Whaley was born in South Saint Paul, MN. She attended public schools through eighth grade and then completed her high school education at St. Croix Lutheran High School. Her continuing degrees are noted on this page. Dr. Whaley enjoys anything to do with the outdoors, fishing, all sports, reading, and her motorcycle. Her main passion is her love of teaching and learning.
