Vollyeball Loses Two at NWC Triangular
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team lost a pair of games a triangular meet held at Northwestern Saturday afternoon, losing 3-0 to Northwestern, and then 3-1 to Gustavus.
Northwestern beat MLC by the scores of 27-25, 25-12 and 25-15.
The Knights played tough in the first game, holding a 25-24 lead late before NWC scored the final three points.
The Knights struggled in the second game, hitting -.219 with four kills and 11 errors in the game. The Eagles put the match away in the third game, hitting .467 with 17 kills against only three errors in the set.
Rachel Hein finished the match with a team-best 11 kills and also had four blocks. Jennifer Draeger led the Knights with nine digs.
The Knights lost to Gustavus in game two of their double header by the scores of 25-16, 18-25, 25-20 and 25-13.
Kayla Schoeneck was the Knights' top hitter in the match with 13 kills an an attack percentage of .414. Hein added seven kills and eight blocks, including two solo blocks.
Draeger once again led the team with 18 digs, while Liz Loersch had three service aces in the match.
With the two losses, MLC dropped to 7-9 overall and 1-1 in the UMAC.
The Knights will return to action when they host Northland in the first home game of the season on Friday, September 30 at 7 p.m.
