Volleyball Rolls to Win over North Central
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team came back from Friday's disappointing loss to beat North Central in three games by the scores of 25-7, 25-13 and 25-21.
The Knights dominated for much of the contest, hitting .522 in the first set and .333 in the second set on the way to a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Rams tried to extend the match in the third set, taking a 19-15 lead late, but Rebecca Engelbrecht and Alex Anthon helped steady the ship for the Knights with kills down the stretch as they closed out NCU in three.
Heather Danell led MLC with 12 kills, while Engelbrecht finished with ten kills and four service aces. MacCartney Mendolla also had success with her serve, finishing with three aces.
Rachel Hein led the front row defensively with four blocks, while Jennifer Draeger led the back row with 18 digs.
With the win, MLC improved to 12-10 overall and 6-3 in the UMAC, while NCU dropped to 1-21 on the season and 0-9 in league play.
MLC will return to action on Friday, October 19, when it travels to Minnesota Morris for a 7 p.m. match.
