Volleyball Rolls over Crown
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team picked up its fifth consecutive win Saturday, beating Crown 3-0 by the scores of 25-9, 25-12 and 25-16.
The Knights jumped out to big leads in each set, with Alex Anthon's strong serving leading the way. Anthon finished the match with four service aces, and helped the Knights get out to leads of 7-0 in the first set, 7-1 in the second set, and 4-0 in the third set.
MLC's biggest advantage throughout the match was at the net, where the Knights blocked eight Storm attacks and held Crown to an attack percentage of -.099 for the match.
Rebecca Engelbrecht led the team in kills with 11. Leah Nass added five kills for the Knights, who hit .348 for the match. Miranda Maasz finished with 25 assists.
With the win, the Knights improved to 8-7 on the season and 2-0 in the UMAC. The win was MLC's fifth in a row, and the eighth in the last nine matches. Crown dropped to 2-11 overall and 0-2 in league play.
MLC will return to action on Friday, September 28, when it travels to Northwestern for a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
