Volleyball Loses in Three at CSS
DULUTH, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team lost 3-0 at St. Scholastica Friday night by the scores of 25-16, 25-21 and 26-24.
The Knights fell behind early as they lost the first set, and once again fell behind in the second set in the early going, but came back to within one point at 18-17 before the Saints went on a late run to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set went back-and-forth the entire way, with neither team able to build a lead more than three points, before the Saints broke up a 24-24 tie by scoring the last two points of the game to finish the match.
Rachel Hein had a big match for MLC up front, finishing with 12 kills and hitting .385 for the match. Hein also added four blocks, including one solo effort. Rebecca Engelbrecht chipped in ten kills, and also added a team-best 15 digs, while Miranda Maasz had a team-high 29 assists.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 13-12 overall and 6-4 in the UMAC, while the Saints improved to 19-6 on the season and 9-1 in league play.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 22) when they travel to Northland for a match scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
