Volleyball Loses 3-1 to UMM
NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost 3-1 to Minnesota Morris Saturday morning by the scores of 25-18, 14-25, 25-15 and 25-21.
MLC came back from losing the first set to tie the match at 1-1, but the Cougars were able to finish off the Knights in four.
UMM took advantage of a strong serve throughout the match, finishing with 12 service aces compared to two for the Knights.
The Knights outhit the Cougars, finishing with more kills (51) and a higher percentage (.188), but weren't able to come away with the win.
Heather Danell had a strong match, finishing with 13 kills and an attack percentage of .423 to go with six blocks. Rebecca Engelbrecht led MLC in kills (17) and digs (18), while MarCartney Mendolla and Alex Anthon each finished with 16 digs. Miranda Maasz had 42 assists and 14 digs.
The loss dropped MLC to 14-11 on the season and 7-4 in the UMAC, while UMM improved to 19-9 overall and 11-0 in league play.
MLC will return to action on Wednesday, October 30, when it travels to Bethany Lutheran for a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
