Volleyball Drops Two at UWEC Tournament

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The MLC volleyball team opened its season at the UW-Eau Claire tournament, losing in four games to both Concordia-Moorhead and St. Benedict.

Rebecca Engelbrecht and the Knights lost two matches at UW-Eau Claire

[Concordia-Moorhead 3, MLC 1]

The Knights took the first game against Concordia-Moorhead by the score of 25-19, but then lost the next three by the scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 26-24 to lose the opening match of the tournament in four games.

Rebecca Engelbrecht led the Knights with 13 kills and 12 digs in the match, while Rachel Hein finished with four solo blocks and six block assists.

[St. Benedict 3, MLC 1]

In the second match, the Knights lost in four games to St. Benedict by the scores of 25-11, 23-25, 25-12 and 25-20.

Engelbrecht led the team in kills and digs again with 14 and 16, respectively, while Hein added seven kills.

With the two losses, MLC starts the season 0-2.

MLC will return to action at the UW-Eau Claire Volleyball Labor Day Classic against UW-Eau Claire in a match starting at 10 a.m. The Knights will finish the tournament against St. Catherine at 2:30 p.m.
