Volleyball Drops Two at St. Olaf Tournament
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost a pair of matches in the St. Olaf tournament Saturday, losing 3-1 to St. Olaf and 3-1 to Carleton.
The Knights lost the first match to St. Olaf by the scores of 25-14, 25-19, 17-25, and 25-18.
Rebecca Engelbrecht led MLC with 16 kills and 14 digs. Kayla Schoeneck and Leah Nass added nine kills each, and Heather Danell had eight kills. Miranda Maasz finished with 33 assists and three service aces in the loss.
MLC dropped the final match of the tournament to Carleton by the scores of 26-24, 26-24, 13-25, and 25-23.
The Knights held leads late in the first (24-23) and fourth (22-19) sets, but were unable to close them out in the loss.
Engelbrecht once again led the way in both kills (14) and digs (23). Nass and Schoeneck had ten kills apiece, and Alex Anthon added 16 kills from the back row.
MLC dropped to 2-2 on the season with the two losses.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 6, when they start a two-day tournament at Bethel University.
