Volleyball Clinches Third Seed with Win over CSS

NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team clinched the third seed in the UMAC Postseason Tournament with a 3-0 win over St. Scholastica Saturday by the scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-23.

The Knights hit .321 for the match, while also holding the Saints to .152 with the help of 10.0 blocks in three sets.

Rebecca Engelbrecht was stellar in her final home game, finishing with 18 kills and an attack percentage of .327 for the match. She also added 13 digs and a pair of service aces.

Heather Danell and Morgan Kumbier brought support in the middle, finishing with eight and six kills, respectively, and combining for eight total blocks.

Miranda Maasz led all players with 40 assists, and also had five digs, while Alex Anthon and Kayla Schoeneck tied for the team lead with 16 digs.

MLC finished the regular season 17-11 overall and 10-4 in UMAC play, good for third place in the conference. St. Scholastica dropped to 13-15 on the season and 8-6 in league play in defeat, and will be the fourth seed in next week's UMAC Postseason Tournament.

The Knights will play in the semi-final round of the conference tournament at Minnesota Morris on Wednesday, November 6. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
